This unique online resource covers eleven CIS countries, with a special focus on Russia and the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). It encompasses a broad spectrum of social, demographic, environmental, and commercial statistics.

From our extensive collection of 40,000 tables, we have selected 4,000 charts to include with these data. Together, these data give the best insight into the society and economy of the former USSR for the past 15 years. Some groups of indicators go as far back as 1970; historical statistics are included where relevant.

The data for the online statistical database are one part of an extensive statistical collection which has been gathered since the early years of perestroika. Our special series, "Socioeconomic Potential of the CIS," was first published in 1993.

The information is derived from municipal, regional, and state agencies, as well as professional organizations and industrial associations. Some components of this data - gathered and analyzed by our research team - are so unique that they have no counterpart in the information market.
